TCO London produces Craft Book for Oscar-winner Barry Jenkins’ Underground Railroad in Emmy Magazine

TCO and the Little White Lies team were commissioned by Amazon Studios to create a craft book reflecting the creative achievement of the show and targeting the 25,000 voters of the TV Academy for the Emmy Awards.

One of the most anticipated TV shows of 2021 Barry Jenkins’ adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer prize-winning novel The Underground Railroad for Amazon Studios is the Oscar-winning Moonlight director’s first-ever TV series. Cinematic, urgently relevant, and driven by story-telling of the highest order the show is told through the lens of Cora, a young female slave who escapes her plantation in Georgia and discovers the mythical underground railroad. Over 10 episodes combining alternate history with magical realism it connects the dots between slavery in America and what it means today to be Black in America.

With a brief to delight and surprise Emmy voters, and to position Amazon Studios as the home for creative talent, we expanded the possibilities of the craft book format with a unique execution, including a die-cut cover, fold-outs, mini-booklet pages, all informed by beautiful and evocative design. The result: super-premium print that sets the gold standard for Awards craft books.

The underground railroad craft book was distributed in Emmy Magazine. The Underground Railroad launched May 14 on Amazon Prime. You can read a review of the series in the latest issue of Little White Lies.
