Shot across a summer season of races in Kettlewell, Borrowdale and Kilnsey Crag, our 20-minute documentary, Winner Gets Cake follows the rivalry between Ben Rothery and Finlay Grant as they chase the English fell running championship. Alongside the competition, an eclectic cast bring the sport’s deep-rooted community spirit to life: from weekday rat catcher and weekend race director Mike, to 74-year-old legend Wendy with over 1,000 races under her belt. 

Blending visceral footage with intimate character moments, the film captures a sport defined by resilience, camaraderie and the simple reward waiting at the finish line: cake.
