Directed by Michael Grandage and based on the book by Bethan Roberts, My Policeman is a period love story starring Harry Styles, Emma Corrin and David Dawson. Amazon Studios approached us to create a unique print project that would excite and inspire voters as part of the film’s FYC campaign, with the aim to polybag the project for The Hollywood Reporter.

The Results

After seeing advance screenings of My Policeman, our design team started working on initial concepts. Taking cues from the theme of duality, the book presents itself from both sides, Marion’s Policeman and Patrick’s Policeman, using a double binding. This was both functional in terms of splitting the content but also acted as an interesting perspective to weave in the editorial.

We then added hidden French folds housing stolen moments, and secret messages cut across folds. The booklet feels nostalgic and stylistically nods to photo albums and police force ephemera from the 1950s. All of these combined result in a sophisticated, tactile and intriguing FYC booklet.

We also created a secondary booklet, which was an in-world tourist guide to Brighton. This was slotted into the main booklet and hints towards the secret papers and letters that are seen throughout the film. It was also an interesting opportunity for us to celebrate the location and set design in the film, whilst collaborating with illustrator Owen Gatley to create 50s-inspired artwork.
