To celebrate 50 years of GORE-TEX® Products, TCO creates a personality-led documentary uncovering the people and ideas behind a fabric that changed everything.

The Results

The story of GORE-TEX® Fabrics is much bigger than a timeline of technological breakthroughs. It stretches from the laboratory to Everest, from Antarctic expeditions to Paris Fashion Week, from mountaineering pioneers to streetwear culture. And within that extraordinary breadth is a cast of inventors, engineers, explorers, designers and thinkers who have spent five decades asking the same question: what if a fabric could do more?

To mark its 50-year anniversary, we set out to capture this spirit rather than simply document the past. Going Further, Together is a documentary built from the people, products and ideas that shaped the GORE-TEX® Brand story. We went deep into the brand’s archive, uncovering products, photographs, prototypes and historical milestones, and brought them together with voices from inside and outside the company.

Structured across eight chapters, the film moves from the original breakthrough in 1969 and the extreme environments that put GORE-TEX® Fabric to the test, through their unexpected journey into high fashion and street culture and towards questions of responsibility and who gets to experience the outdoors.

Bringing together a range of perspectives, the film captures the unique personality of the brand, giving the film texture and character through people who could bring technological discoveries to life and collaging together archival products. We hear from some of GORE-TEX® Brand’s own experts including archivist Nedda Moqtaderi, engineer Stefan Trainer, specialists Thorger Hübner and Erik Schrei and sustainability expert Marie Måwe. And those who look at the brand from the outside in, such as renowned explorer Will Steger, designer Jaimus Tailor, Hood Hikers founder Jasmine Guadalupe and fashion culture researcher professor Andrew Groves.
